On my last post I mentioned an optional battle in Episode 3.
So here are the latest results: Sonic VS Tails = 2 ///

Here are some more details about the battle storywise:

First off, I really like the idea of Tails asking Sonic to train.
Like I said in my last post, you can play as both characters.
If you don't battle then you obviously don't get any bonus items.
If you choose Tails and beat Sonic then you recieve an Auto-Revival Ring that revives and heals you if you die.
If you choose Sonic and beat Tails then you recieve either a Mega Potion that heals entire team to full health or 3 potions that heal 200 HP. It depends on if I choose to have the whole team fight in the next battle or just Sonic.

By the way, there will be a very tough battle shortly after the optional battle.
Zero may be weak in the earlier episodes and chapters of the series, but from Chapter 3 and beyond he will be one of the hardest enemies you fight!
